Cop J's Bio - -

Christopher "Cop J" Pegeron was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1989. He moved to Plainfield, NJ at the age of 7 and now attends an University in New Jersey at the age of 18. Falling in love with hip-hop and rap music at the age of 13, Chris began writing songs to mainstream instrumentals as a hobby. One year later he purchased his first computer microphone and began recording his first "sixteen".

Following in the footsteps of the mainstream artists whose music bumped on his stereo, Chris wrote about his possessions and wants. Looking back he realizes that this wasn't hip-hop; It was more like "rap without substance". It was not until two years later that he finally changed his outlook on music.

Finally looking in the right direction, Christopher was inspired by his parents, girlfriend, and various rappers to become the man he is today. The music of Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Common, Joe Budden, and Nas bumping through his iPod speakers, made him realize what hip-hop actually is.

Now, Cop J writes and records music addressing issues from suicidal victims to poverty stricken civilians. Developing a new identity for himself, Cop J raps,"Real men don't cry?/ Who sets the standards for a guy?/And tell me why do I listen..." in his song "The Damage is Done" (a song explaining his past of how the media and mainstream artists swayed him into being a follower). With story telling tracks like "Black Finger Nails" and "Insanity", Chris addresses the issues of today's world.

Striving for excellence, I, Christopher "Cop J" Pegeron hope to one day have the opportunity to inspire at least one person to make a change just as I did...

"Gotta prove em' wrong
Spit till you can't rap no more, cuz life aint long" ~ Cop J
